About Horsey Gap
Horsey Beach is home to one of the largest and most accessible grey seal colonies in the UK. The seal pups start to arrive from late October and are at Horsey in great numbers during the winter seal pup season. Over 3,500 seal pups were born along this stretch of the coast in the 2024/2025 season. All year round seals can be spotted either on the beach or swimming close to the shore. During the seal pup season, (mid/end October to February), viewing is from the sand dunes and designated ‘viewing platforms’ only.
During the summer, Horsey’s long sandy beach is rarely crowded, with parking nearly always available in the large beach carpark. The parking at Horsey Gap is in a great location very near the beach and dunes. On occasions, the overflow car park at Horsey Gap is in use. This overflow car park is also close to Horsey beach, being just a short walk to the beach and the Horsey Gap car park.
Horsey Gap is a CAR ONLY carpark. There is no parking, or drop off near Horsey Gap for coaches, buses, minibuses, motorhomes, campervans, trailers, caravans or horseboxes. The nearest car park for coaches, buses, and other larger vehicles is Sea Palling, about 4 miles away.
The beach car park at Horsey Gap is pay and display, and is privately run. Cars are charged £4 for up to 2 hours, £6.20 for up to 4 hours and £8.50 for the day. Both card and coin payments are accepted. Charges also apply for the overflow car park when in use.
No campervans, motorhomes, minibuses, coaches, or any large vehicles are permitted.
